As part of KT and the ongoing ABDM transition, prepare consolidated documentation on FHIR standards and their adoption in the ABDM ecosystem. This serves both as a self-learning exercise and as reference material for the team.

Scope of Documentation

• Modern Healthcare Interoperability

• • Why FHIR is required (data across hospitals, labs, payers, devices, home care).

• • Patient-centric data exchange, real-time interoperability.

• FHIR Overview

• • FHIR resource model (clinical, admin, financial resources).

• • Four interoperability paradigms: REST APIs, Documents, Messaging, Services.

• • Profiles, extensions, and terminology binding (SNOMED, ICD, LOINC).

• ABDM Adoption

• • ABDM FHIR IG (R4) and its India-specific constraints.

• • Document Bundles → clinical data (diagnostic reports, discharge summaries, prescriptions, OP consult, immunization, wellness).

• • Collection Bundles → admin/claims workflows (eligibility, submission, payment).

• • Profile rules: mandatory fields, must-support, differential views.

• • Validation requirements (using HAPI FHIR Validator / IG package).

• Artifacts & HI Types

• • Clinical artifacts (≈37 profiles, 19 scenarios, 35+ examples).

• • ABDM HI Types (Diagnostic Report, Discharge Summary, OP Consult, Prescription, Immunization, Wellness).

• • Development process (requirement → design → validation → hosting by NRCeS/NHA).

Deliverables

• Organized documentation (Confluence/Gitbook) consolidating:

• • Key learnings from ABDM Open-House session (4th April 2022).

• • Notes on FHIR basics and ABDM-specific adaptations.

• •  Explain bundles, profiles, and HI types.

• Reference links to official ABDM FHIR Implementation Guide and registry.
